On the bottom of the bowls there are 4 silicone pads that prevent the bowl from moving when placed on any surface. The special Teflon technology protects the bowl prevents food and liquids sticking to the surface. Its very convenient to take care fof the bowl, the Teflon coating makes it easy to just rinse clean.
